COURSES | ABLE SEAFARER ENGINE COURSE
This course fulfills the requirements of the South African Code of Maritime Qualifications, the SA Merchant Shipping (Safe Manning, Training and Certification) Regulations , 2012. The course is accredited by SAMSA and meets the requirements of section A-III/5 of STCW. Certificates are issued to successful candidates on completion.
Duration: 10 days
Exam Fee: Certificate of qualification
A minimum of 6 candidates are required for the course and the fee includes notes, stationery, cordage, wire rope, refreshments, light lunch and sundry materials.
Must produce proof of identity, an approved Training Record Book and 2 passport size black & white photos.
Candidates must attend all practical training sessions with full personal protective equipment (PPE), i.e. overalls and safety boots. Unicorn may supply goggles, hardhats and gloves, to be returned and used by subsequent classes.
Age: Must be 18 years or older. All candidates must be conversant and literate in English. Must produce proof of having served in an engine-room capacity for a period of not less than 18 months, unless the candidate has trained within an approved accelerated training scheme. At least half of the period must have been on ships over 750 kW propulsion power.
Certificates: Must produce Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting, Competence in Survival Craft & Rescue Boats other than Fast Recue Boats and Ordinary Seafarer Engine (Wiper) certificates.

Course fees are quoted in South African Rands, and are subject to increase without notice when circumstances or related services for costs change. Please enquire as to the correct fee at the time of the booking. All bookings made in advance will not attract additional costs. Course fees are not refundable and certifications are only issued once all course fees are paid in full. Kindly note that we do not accept cheques, only cash or electronic transfers.
