Before being assigned to any shipboard duties in relation to safety or pollution prevention, seafarers engaged in any capacity on board need basic training in Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities, Personal Survival Techniques, Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting, and Elementary First Aid. The training is given in accordance with STCW Covention and Tables A-VI/1-1, A-VI/1-2, A-VI/1-3 and A-VI/1-4 of the STCW Code.This programme fulfills the requirements of the South African Code of Maritime Qualifications, the SA Merchant Shipping (Safe Manning, Training and Certification) Regulations , 2012.

Additional Information

Competence will be evaluated on continuous assessment and on completion of each module of the course candidates will be issued with a certificate which will be numbered for reference.

A minimum of 6 candidates are required and the course fee includes refreshments, notes and sundry materials, a light lunch, and transport to and from practical training exercises.

Candidates are to bring along their ID/Passport and valid medical fitness certificate on the 1st day of the course.

All candidates must be conversant and literate in English.
