This course is accredited by SAMSA and meets the requirements of the South African Code of Maritime Qualifications and the requirements of STCW A-VI/4-2. The practical sessions are held in the trauma unit of a local hospital. Certificates are issued to successful candidates on completion.
Candidates are to bring their ID/Passport and a valid medical first aid certificate on the 1st day of the course.
All candidates must be conversant and literate in English.
A minimum of 4 (four) candidates are required for the course.
Refreshments and lunch are provided whilst on course.
Duration: 6 days (including 1 night at a trauma unit)
The course fee includes manuals, notes, stationery, sundry materials, tea and coffee, and a light lunch.

Course fees are quoted in South African Rands, and are subject to increase without notice when circumstances or related services for costs change. Please enquire as to the correct fee at the time of the booking. All bookings made in advance will not attract additional costs.
Course fees are not refundable and certifications are only issued once all course fees are paid in full. Kindly note that we do not accept cheques, only cash or electronic transfers.
Situated in Durban on the east coast of South Africa, the Grindrod Shipping Training Academy is a registered establishment that conducts Safety, Survival and Security Courses required by the marine and allied industries. The Academy is accredited by SAMSA (South African Marine Safety Authority), OPITO. Since 1975 the Academy has trained both seafarers and personnel for shore and offshore based sectors of trade. The Academy is not restricted by the Prospectus and courses can be tailor-made to suit requirements.
