Masters, chief engineer officers, chief mates, second engineer officers and any person with immediate responsibility for loading, discharging, care in transit, handling of cargo, tank cleaning or other cargo-related operations on oil tankers shall hold a certificate in advanced training for oil tanker cargo operations.

Prerequisites

All candidates must be in possession of a valid Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting certificate, must have completed a Basic Oil and Chemical Tanker course and, for a certificate of competency endorsement, should have completed at least six months experiential training on a tanker.

  • Conversant and literate in English.
  • Proof of identity. 
  • An approved training record book.
  • All pregnant learners attending strenuous practical sessions (firefighting and survival courses) must produce a letter from a doctor stating that they     are fit to attend. 
  • The Academy will provide full personal protective equipment (PPE), when required.

A minimum number of candidates are required for the course. 
The fee includes manuals, notes, stationery and sundry materials. 
Refreshments and lunch are provided whilst on course. Please advise us of specific dietary requirements. 
Certificates will be issued to successful candidates on completion of the course.

Course fees are quoted in South African Rands and are subject to increases without notice should related service costs increase.  Please enquire as to the correct fee at the time of the booking. Course fees are pegged when the booking is made. Course fees are not refundable, and certificates are only issued once all course fees are paid in full. Payments may be made in cash or by electronic transfer.
